Beginner surf on the Norfolk coast? (Hunstanton/Holkham)

Postby Water24x7 » Thu Oct 14, 2010 2:14 pm

Hello All,

I'm staying with friends in Hunstanton for the next 4 days and hoped to get some time in the water.

I see Cromer is the spot in that area but thinking it may be a bit far for me especially as I'm not good enough to appreciate the waves it may throw up.

I am a beginner (experienced!) on a minimal. That is I can get up (most of the time), I can control the board but I am still definitely a beginner and I've only surfed a few times this year. I'm comfortable in the sea though.

I was wondering if there was anywhere before Cromer (closer to Hunstanton) that I could use as playground for a few days just to get used to getting up on the board again and practice paddling out and trying to catch a few breaking waves? I'm on my own so ideally somewhere with a nice soft sandy beach break where I won't get smashed on the rocks and disappear never to be seen again :)

Lastly, I have no kit at the mo! So if anyone answering is in the area and has a board/wetsuit they want to sell I may be a perfick punter :p

Cheers,

Andy.
