Blackball

Postby pkbum » Mon Jun 23, 2008 9:24 pm

dang its that time of the year when surfers have to watch out for swimmers and have many spot that are prohibited to surf.

I guess summer is actually bad, I mean the warm water is really nice, but looking for parking 30 min + walking across to get over the blackball 10 min + more crowd on the beach. Dang life's a bitch.

I suddenly miss the cold winter when all the wussies go back to school.

Sorry for the ranting. I just needed to vent :x :x :x :x

That is why I hate the OC CROWDED. Rant away you need to if you live with that crap. Ventura is starting to crowd up, but nothing like the oc. Good luck with the shoebies PK, can't complain to much the surf has been riping.

I am always longing for NW lines.

im in the same boat im stuck at a blackballed beach any one who has been to OB in the summer will know how blackballed it gets and crowded. I would go elsewhere but with a dodgy car im stuck to getting lifts or surfing the reef which gets really sketchy in the summer and means you have to shoot the pier every time  But the waters warm and the sun is hot so i cant complain too much

its like a rule where surfers are not allowed to surf because it might endanger the swimmers.

Hey, its winter here and its hell - 20C water, 21C air, sun's out, noone swimming, and the surf crowd is pretty light too.

Did I mention the headhigh swell @ 12s and offshore breeze?

Hell I tell you 8)

biggest pile of carp ever. First off none of the bathers go out far enough for them to be in the way most of the time. Fair enough in peak summer i can see it being sensible but the break i surf has an area blackballed in the winter. theres never any bathers nor swimmers, but the lifeguards still give you a hard time. Its the most retarded thing ever

What bothers me most is they blackball the best part of the beach?!!? Why don't they blackball the outer towers and not by the point or pier??

For those that aren't subject to this human atrocity, the dreaded blackball might look something like this ...

I've always been meaning to steal one.

You know, the crowds were one of the reasons I took a leave from the sport (not the only though) ... that's why frankly I don't mind the crappier spots since it's hardly as crowded as the some of the spots along Newport and Huntington (California) - although really those beach breaks aren't that good to begin with.
