i think we can all agree on the goatboaters but as far as spongers look at it from their perspective most of them get zero respect in the lineup which is a real shame cause a lot of them are taking on waves stand up surfers wont touch  Its a little different at my local beach which is blackballed for bodyboarders so they have there own section when they come over to the surfing side im always a little bit pissed but thats just because they have an entire section to themselves. But hey its not a big deal as long as they dont get in the way this applies to all modes of watercraft in the water

I've been surfing for over 30 years and I believe that the surf is for everybody. Give everyone a fair go and they get on alright. Yes I'm one of the good guys who don't snake for waves and I stay outa everybody's way when I'm paddling out. All I was trying to say that the b\boarders just pissed me off as I went for the waves and i just give them a 'hand' on the waves. Now they know better! I even got a thumbs up ages ago from them when I took off on a monster wave that sucked dry over rocks and made the wave. They didn't think I was still alive! THAT was fun!

nothing wrong with goatboaters who know what theare doing and know the rules. i surf with swansea canoe club a fair but these days and ive not seen them cause anyone any problems. its actually quite useful paddling out with them because quite often all the surfers will be on a different peak.

That is fine, but a goatboater who isn't in controll of his craft can be really dangerous. Half of those I met doesn't even try and eskimo under oncoming waves, and just get washed towards me. They shouldn't be out there. I have respect for any water user who treats the water and the waves with respect, but somebody who has no controll of there craft, paddleski or otherwise, shouldn't be in the water at all.

the reason they dont eskimo under the waves it that a kayak is far too bouyant to get under a wave. the right technique for getting over the waves is a boof. know what that means? also have you ever been upside down in a kayak? not a fun place to be and rolling up is more hassle than its worth. and again you try and eskimo a kayak under a wave it will still catch the boat. the kayak will still be coming towards you but with less control and the paddler cant see you.

Then that settles it, a kayaker shouldn't be in a flipping pointbreak with 4ft+ surf and too far inside, unless there is nobody else in the water, it is too dangerous. I almost got hit the other day because of these idiots. I had to duckdive under the kayaker, and that probably was the scariest thing to happen to me in the water, it even beats the time a 2 1/2 overhead freak set came through on a pretty normal head high day and washed me to bits.
