my comp was mad fun. the church group was really cool too, not heavily over the top, we prayed before we went out and stuff but it was great. there was about 40 ppl there all up, body boarders and surfers, all lined up along the wall, judging, getting it on a video camera of just sitting and watching and hooting at rides.

i won my first heat easily, there was me, two young kids about 12 and an old guy and i got through on a killer floater. it was mad to nail a great trick and look back at the wall and see 36 other ppl going off for you. next there was body board heats and stuff, and to be honest they were mad to watch. the surf was about 6 foot and some of them were holding and pitting up nicely. we would all sit there and someone would spot someone going for the wave and everyone would go "yeh hes going..ohh..ohh..OHHHH!" if he ate it or nailed a sick move. the semi final heat for me was next and i came 3rd. i wasnt too disappoined, i was up against 2 other great surfers, a guy my age and one a little bit older. my idea of going all wax no grip payed off, there was long carving sections which was so fun.

all in all, it was mad to make the semis and it was a mad group atmosphere, epic day.
