On the Beach

This musical clip is from the 1964 movie named "Wonderful Life" that stared Cliff Richards. Here, the band consists of tremendous guitarist Hank Marvin and the Shadows. However, the real treat is the fabulous Susan Hampshire dancing with Cliff.

Maggie's choice selection is from the 1964 film, " For Those Who Think Young." There's some fantastic shimmying going on with those fine looking young folks!

Wow!

We can go for a long run with these 1960's surfing films. Many of the films in the early 1960's were made by Starrfilms. Starrfilms did an impressive job of including many popular and well known stars and singers in their films. Here's the official trailer to their film, "Girls On the Beach." IN the film, the Beach Boys were featured during the early part and performing their song, "Girls on the beach." Hubba, hubba!

Surfs up and the first thing everyone does is dance....yeah right. I guess it is movies like this that made surfing so popular. I wonder how many people were surprised when they hung out at the beach and none of that stuff happened.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Ol' Man, are you saying you are not so filled with joy when the surf is good that you don't jump up and dance?!
Happens all the time in California!
In the 60's, we did the twist. Just like in the movies!
In the late 70's, we did the Steve Martin Happy Feet dance. There was also little bit of Saturday night Disco among urban bound surfers.
Things got a little weird in the 80's because surfers were doing the Pogo and the Safety Dance right there in the sand.
In the 90's, surfers started doing the Electric Slide. Now that was something to see!
These trends have continued on through the dull 2000's and the blistering 20-teens. With whatever surfers considered trendy, of course.

It's not just California. Don't be surprised when a Surfing Shelia on safari from OZ dances for joy when she sees the surf is lit up at your local break! :D

Thank you for your inquiry, Ol' Man. I played a sand crab in the 1964 movie named “Bikini Beach.” I shunned the spot light after that for about 40 years. Oh, producers and directors were calling regularly. However, I wanted a simple life with Mrs. Morini, our big dogs, surfing peaceful breaks, and making a living with my brain instead of my irresistible handsome looks and warm charm. Finally, an offer came that was just too good to pass up. I played the Slow Learner in the 2006 movie named “Surf School.” The producer said I was a natural for this role!!
