The video footage was filmed in FEB 2018 at a Gaviota semi-secret spot. The surfer is one of the local crew that continues to enjoy surfing the secret and semi-secret breaks in the beautiful Gaviota Coast. There is a pleasant camaraderie among these guys. The video was made by Atlas Imagery of Santa Barbara (https://vimeo.com/atlasimagery).
This specific location was highly enjoyed for decades by youth that lived in close proximity. They’d spend the entire weekend camping and surfing here. There’s a fresh water stream flowing from the forest into the sea at this break. However, the new private land owner pretty well put a stop to this around 2009. Some of us still know how to access it, but we cannot do much more than surf there now. The land owner fenced the property very well and employs a guard at the interface between the beach and the forested land. This is a shame because the surfers truly love this location. It’s such a pretty location and the waves are sweet. Even my present and, especially, two previous dogs have/had a special sentiment for this location, too. They light/lit up when I take them here.
It's long been a favorite place of mine. I had the good fortune between 2009 and 2011 to work on the entire property. It is so beautiful that came to love it. I wish the good fortune of its ownership could be mine. I'd like to think I'd share it with fellow surfers.
