Costa Rica - Mal Pais - Board Hire

Hiya,

Thanks to BA dropping allowable board sizes on all their flights down to 2.5m, looks like I may be stuck taking my Stewart 9' progressive Longboard on an extended month long trip to Costa Rica in November.

Any one any ideas what the chances of decent long board hire is like in Mal Pais or even potential buy/sell back with exchange rate as is?

Really pissed off with BA .. and non refunable ticket.

Any local knowledge appreciated.

lots of spots to rent a board, can think of at least 8 right off my head. But check out Corduroy to the Horizon, towards the beach from Frank's Place. Both me and Kitesurfer rented from them, both were happy. If not, just start walking down the road, seems everyone and their 3 vagrant roaming dogs rent boards there now.

You will be able to both buy and sell any board there, but you won't get much for one when you sell it.

When i was there people were having a really hard time trying to sell boards, also there seemed to be way more of a selection for shortboards than longboards.

Not alot of longboarding in MalPais. If you are going to buy a board, maybe go to Tamarindo or Jaco first. Lots of long“s at both spots.
