G'day. You're missing a great swell! It's headhigh+ and offshore now!?!

Best bet is to stay near Kata Beach. They have board rental and it's only a half hour drive to 90% of the breaks.

Man! I wish the swell stays till august! Half an hour drive means it is better to rent like car or bike to take bords? And still if we need to take any transport it doesn't really matter to stay Kata or Karon, or there is some surf on right in Kata?

Do you know what are preliminary price for boards rent?

Dec, which charts would you recommend to forecast swells down there? windguru?

Hey. Swell should be fairly steady for the next 2 months. It usually gets pretty windy though.

Kata and Karon both have surf. There not really that big towns so if you stay in kata you're only a minute walk maximum from surf. In karon it doesn't have any rental boards and has heaps of bad rips and stuff.

Boards are fairly cheap but stil not as cheap as some places. 2nd hand boards aren't easy to come by, but a new epoxy board in the only surf shop on the island is about 20'000 baht ( $800)

I have a 6'6 for sale if you want it?

I use magicseaweed as it's a tiny bit more reliable (still not great). But because I work with Sunsail, we get all the NOAA pressure charts for a more detailed look.

Dec, 6'6 but would be a good deal if it's rather old enough to have a nice price :) May be there's a place in Bangkok to buy? If not hope there will be couple of boards to rent in Kata.

May be you know some nice cabanas in Kata about 20-50$?

In kata you can get a room for rent from aound 300 baht ($10US) to whatever you can afford. Don't book, just turn up and have a search around. Ask people.

The board is 4000 Baht ($130US), but it has been broken before and it needs some Future fins (which you can buy here)

Thanks for the info, man! Is it easy to find you at Phuket? I will leave my thai number here as I buy a sim-card.

Well I am pretty well known for being impossible to contact 8)

There's been a bit of a problem with some of the thai phone companies at the moment. Often you can't get through or you can't make or recieve any calls. Gets pretty frustrating.

What date will you be here?
