South of France in September (Lacanau)

I'll be going to the south of France in September and am wondering if anyone has any advice as to what breaks to check out.

I'm looking at Lacanau as apparently it's quite quiet in September with some nice waves to be had.

Anyone else been South of France and know of some good areas to check out for something fun, intermediate waves?

I worked around there way back, if i remember rightly you'll be spoilt for choice..

If youve got transport just drive down the coast..Hossegor & Biarritz aren't too far away...

Yeah, we shall have transport; I was looking at Hossegor earlier, looks like it might be abit too big for me though! Any ideas what it's like in september?

Not that Ive been there, so I could we talking out of my @rse, but Hossegor will be big in september. The same hurricane swells that hit the UK in september will hit hossegor too - but more so, much more so

Also, a lot of the people that I know that have done the Biarritz/Hossegor surf trip have complained about the crowds and the 'Newquay Factor'
Which is a shame, as there are a huge number of uncrowded breaks right along most of the coast.

(...from what Ive heard, second hand, dont quote me on this)

Cheers for the heads up lol, I'm nowhere near good enough to be surfing Hurricane swells so i might just have to keep an eye on that on lol

Apparently it dies down after august and Lacanau goes pretty quiet. (this is what i've heard anyway, maybe it would be worth going later september?).

Mimizan-plage is supposed to be pretty quiet that time of the year too!

Cheers for the help!

I wouldnt go too late..the weather can be a fleshin' nightmare down there...then again youre north of Biarritz...

May be worth driving north a bit for some smaller waves and better weather...like DBBB said, plenty of uncrowded breaks, that coast is pretty much all beach...hopefully im heading down that way if i can persuade my old man for a loan for a van

I lived down there for a couple of years very recently.

Check out the beaches just above Cap Ferret. Its super quiet and quality waves, just park up in the forest (free camping) and walk over the dunes!

Simple as and no hassles

Hey Joe + paulS
Im heading down to france from the sixth until the end of august as well.
Still searching for a good campsite down there (maybe arround biarritz), do you have some to recommend?
What about checking out some breaks down there together?
Cheers
