My mate lives in Sakhalin, he says there's waves, but he doesn't know anyone else who surfs and doesn't fancy it himself.
Where are you going?

does russia have a summer? cos it gets pretty nesh there.
stick to the vodka.. thats my tip. never been to Russia. closest i've been to Russia is Talin (Estonia) & Riga (Latvia). nice 'clubs' and the totties are real beauties. but thats another story.. Riga's river froze over when i was there. i walked across it. you could say i was a dumb ass to do it. but the locals did it.
yea. defo vodka. and don't travel alone at night.
kamchatka

I've seen on youtube a shootage of a rip curl expedition to russia with Tom curren, you might need a very good survival kit with gloves and booties and some vaseline for your face lol, but the surf is great type surf in russia in youtube and u'll find a video

Not much info, you'd probably have to find the spots yourself

I've heard there are some spots in the Far East near Japan. The ocean is probably cold but no colder then in Europe I think. Depends on where you are going. No ocean anywhere near Moscow.
Here's some pictures:

All those photos from the link above were shot in Vladivostok city area.
The wave season there starts in May and still good till Oct with pic swells in Aug-Sep. In this time you can expect water temp around 20-25C. Warm!
The swell directly depends on typhoons coming from the next Japan.
There are also some more options outside V-city on several small islands located in 2 hours by boat trip (Reineke Isl, Popova Isl). The surf there seem even more consistent due to their location (deeper in the sea). This Aug-Sep they had regular swells, 3-4 times a week, up to 2,5-3 m high with tubes.
