do you need to wear a wetsuit in LA beaches in July/August or a rashguard?

(Im not suer if your talking about Louisiana or Los Angeles ( This is for Los Angeles) ) Well, definitely get a wetsuit if your not good with cold water. And we have the ocean currents moving down from Alaska to thank for that. :wink:

I don't know...It depends on how much u can handle. For lack of funds, I survived a couple summers in Los Angeles with a dark rashguard and boardshorts. They absorb the sun, so dark keeps u warmer...definetly a wetsuit for winter tho.....

I'm making it with just a rashguard and shorts and it's OCT.

Then again I'm orginally from Chicago, nothing is cold till it's below Zero.

just wear a shorty. they're perfect for la waters...unless your a wuss like me(i had to by a full body one). just watch out for the los angeles jelly fish!

I am from Hermosa Beach Los Angeles Area) and could not imagine being without a wetsuit in the winter time. I am sure a tough guy could be fine for about 30 minutes.

I live in L.A. and rarely wear a wetsuit during July and August unless it's early in the morning. But anytime after 9:30am or in the afternoon I'm usually fine with just shorts.
