I'm heading off down to the coast near Biarritz with a mate at the end of this month for about 5/6 weeks and planning to try and start learning how to surf as it sounds like something I could definitely get into in a big way. Basically just wondering if anyone has any advice on the best place to be in that region and any ideas for cheap accommodation? Is it possible to rent apartments round there?

Would also be good to hook up with anyone heading to that area who fancies a few post surf beers...

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Hi I am off on a 2 week family holiday to SW France (Vieux Bocau). All the sites talk about Hossegor and Biarritz but can anyone tell me if th surf is any good this far from hossegor.

I've got a 9ft board so am think I won't need the more aggressive waves of hossegor??

The waves in vieux boucau are really great for longboarding, the best season is september...
But be careful with the local of this city who don 't relly like that longboarder catch all the waves at the peak, more over in summer time.
