No, not 'any place'. It has to have what we surfers call 'the sea' or sometimes 'the ocean'. Some people surf on 'the lakes' but these have to be very big lakes, so generally speaking we'd recommend surfing on the sea.
Another important factor is that the sea (see above) has to have 'Waves'. Waves are the bit of water that isnt flat. Note - Waterfalls are not waves. Never try and surf on a waterfall, it will not work. Or if it does, it wont work for very long.
Whether these waves can be classed as 'Fun' is a subjective question and relates not only to conditions including (for explanations of these terms, please see the Glossary) 'Wind', 'Tide', 'Weather' and 'Kooks'. However, even though these variables can be quantified, the perception of Fun is a complicated matter and will depend on the person we usually refer to as 'A Surfer'. However, in many instances these people will be classed as 'A Kook'.

I dunno, sometimes I surf in my head, and that's quite fun. Although the salt water makes my brain sting.
