Cyprus Surf

Found myself in Cyprus last week. Not my ideal destination (NZ is calling again...) but went over for a wedding. I was advised to take my stick and was well suprised with the surf...

It picks up some long range Westerlies out of the med (pretty much the same that gets Israel pumping) and has got some really good set ups. Spent most of my time on this right hand point, wasn't epic but some long rides, very warm water and very good fun!

Obviously, wouldn't recommend it as a surf trip, but if you find yourself going, take a board!

Anyway, off to Portugal again on Sunday, forecast is looking good :D

Lived out there june 2005-june 2006 studying at the uni of Auckland and travelling down to Mt Maunganui at weekends and further afield in uni holidays, seem to be the only person in the world who can make Shippy's go flat EVERYTIME they visit

Hi!
Can anyone recommend a nice place to surf and stay for a week with a company of friends?

Hi Vera and welcome, your question is very simple so a few questions from the forum crew might help you get a better answer!
Where do you surf now and what is your level of surfing? same applies to your friends!
Are you surf safety self sufficient? Many destinations have no lifeguards maybe a camp safety person.
Do you want a surf camp/ resort, surf school or an Air BnB near a beach ?
How far are you prepared to fly or are you near to a good surf zone?
Your own boards or will you hire them?
Lots of options known to the crew here so we can advise you and give price guide! :D

We'd like to rent a house or a villa (if its price will be ok for us, about $ 100-150 per night). I'm intermediate surfer and my friend is advandced. Other buddies are begginers, they just want us to teach them a little. So we'd like to hire boards and stay somewhere near beach with a good (for beginners) surf zone. If It's possible in Cyprus :) some of the members call it not the best destination

OK should have figured that out from the previous posts you linked to.
Not a good surf destination can have surf but the chances of your team and you coinciding with it are rare, so much so i have to do a detailed search!
Next thing is board rentals are unlikely as are surf shops but I will look, Portugal and Northern Spain are better options even Morrocco. :lol:Edited to add there are surf shops in Cyprus but mainly set up to supply windsurf, just google surf shops Cyprus,
We have nothing in our surf map section but Magic Sea Weed will show you where and what,
Good luck! Be aware of border difficulties between the Greekand the Turkish parts of the island!
