Need some help with my Bali/Lombok trip

Hey fellas, haven't been around in a while due to school keeping me down. Anyway, in 30 days I finally get to hit Indonesia after like 5 surfless months! Anyhow, I was wondering if you could point me to some good spots.

I'll probably hit bali for about 2 weeks before I fly out to East Timor (going over there to work in a clinic as a medical elective so probably wont get to surf much). Where should I hit in Bali? I'd like to start somewhere easy since I've been out of the water for a while and need to get my feet wet again before I hit the hard stuff. Where should I start? Where to go after that?

After I get back from Timor, i'll probably hit Lombok for a month. Any tips, suggestions would be appreciated

Hey man! Been a while! How's it going inland US?

If you go straight to Lombok you can catch some local boats and best bet is letting them show you where there are some decent breaks. Just make sure you don't pay them untill you're back on land....otherwise it's a long padle back in

Hey bro, can't say I am a big fan of living inland - especially in this flat concrete jungle. It's good training wise because I'll probably end up working for Medecin Sans Frontier when I'm done and Memphis is full of people who like to shoot each other, don't have insurance, and end up in my hospital, but other than that, I hate it here.

Would is better better to go straight to Lombok? I've heard that it is less touristy and just as nice as Bali but I wonder if the Balinese culture might be nicer.

Depending on how long you rent your bike, if you rent long term, you can get one for 20.000 Rupiah a day about 2 dollars US

A good bloke to rent from is EDY rental on Poppies 2 just past the Barong hotel.

I'm sure he'll look after you if you tell him you know 'Patrick. Very handsome man' (his words not mine  )
