Surfing Waves

Are there any good surfing or skimboarding spots in the southern tip of lake michigan? maybe even in NW Indiana?

I am not sure about the surf in lake Michigan, but here in lake Erie we usually have 2-3 footers sometimes surfable if there is a storm out on the lake I have seen the waves up to 7 feet. Lake Michigan may have better surf because it is a bigger and deeper lake. Sorry I can't give you a good answer, (I have never been to lake michigan I am in Cleveland except for 1-2 weeks a year i hit the east coast for some surfing) As we stare at our lakes we can imagine the ocean and hope to see it again soon. :lol:

I live in chicago and if you want to skim, lake michigan has some nice spots. I used to live in Wilmette and there was a few good spots like Gilson/langdon beach, and a small hidden beach. However surfing is not really a possibility. If you want directions they are located at skimonline.com

check out Lakesurf.com if you think surfing isn't a real possibility. oh and skimming east side lake michigan Grand Haven Area we have tons of bros that skim and we just had a big contest last weekend over 60 riders entered.

the michigan city beach is usually pretty good for riding out into the waves...thats the washington park beach. just about half mile east of the beach is some really good sand bars out maybe 20 or so feet off the shore that are really good....and i just heard that over by porter beach there is a creek...i plan on checking it out in th next couple of days. ill let you know how it is. up in brigman, mi...just north of new buffalo. at weko beach they have a pretty creek that is about 300 ft long at least. and the water rarely gets more than 2 inches deep

and the southern tip of lake michigan is great for surfing...we just had waist high waves the other day and we will probably have chest high tomarrow if the winds hold up
