Surfing Waves

Hi, Me and my sister are going surfing this summer, in the middle of July, maybe not the best time to go surfing but it´s the only time we´re both free..
We have been away three times before so we have learned a bit, but not nearly enough...
Anyway, We are going to either Spain or Portugal this summer and´re wondering if u guys can help us where to go, and if there is any really cheap place to stay, wo are too afraid of bugs to sleep in i tent but any hostel is good enough. it would be great if he hostel had online-booking, but any tip is appreciated (don´t know how it´s spelled).

I would recommend going to Lagos, Southern Portugal. It is probably the best surf trip i've been on. If you're a beginner then its even more amazing. It has two surf schools within walking distance and then you have waves within walking distance also. The Lagos Surf School will take you to the beaches (Amado, Zavial etc - the ones with the best conditions).Also, The people there are so friendly and super kool. Plenty of hotels in Lagos also. Sorry i can't give you a link as i dont have the link to the hotel's website that we stayed at but if you search Google or something, you will find loads of hotels. Sorry i cant be of more help but believe me, it's a great trip

Yeah i reckon lagos is the best place to go, i travelled the whole coast of france to south spain last year and we stayed there the longest
we were there for 6 weeks in nov/ dec (living in the carpark), the surf schools were still running and they drive you to all the best beaches.
Its on the southern tip of portugal so have easy access to both south and west coasts so if the west is too big and closing out, you can head to zavial or baranco.
Amado is a wicked beach-got some of my best waves there, good for spearfishing too!

You should try the north coast of Portugal. Close to Porto there are a lot of uncrowded beaches, excelent food and drink, lots of places to visit including Porto´s CBD (world heritage) and Port wine cellars.

Sure ull have a blast!

NO, NO, keep heading south like every other tourist one of the best things about the North is the lack there of. but seriously, at that time of the year the strong Northern winds start to pick up mid morning so as stated not exactly the best time of the year, esp. for the North.

Sorry Aussie bt i disagree. There is wind allright, bt there are many peers to protect from that. There is no crowds like there is in the south. The north coast has the most consistent swell of all Portugal. I like the option here!

I think you missed the sarcasm and yes always somewhere to surf; through the summer months I usually head straight for Mariana (Afife) where are you? Making the effort to be in the water around 6am is still advisable, after which you can take your time to have a look about.
