Surfing Waves

Hi All,

A few friends and I are looking at going on holiday late June / early July after our exams.

We're after somewhere cheap, with good beginner surfing (surf schools etc) and good nightlife.

Any ideas?
Where would you recommend?

Yeah, sorry. I'm in the UK.

i like nouth devon nicer place but as u want the night life i would have to say newquay or round that way. lots of surf schools there. that time of year it is a guss if there are going to be any waves lol

Ahh cheers, we'd prefer to go abroad tbh, and ofcourse we realise that it will be more expensive.

i would probably say france or ireland, i've heard many places in france get good waves and ireland in the summer, uk isnt to good for waves normally although we get the odd swell. if you havnt got a board and equipment your probs best phoning around where you want to go to get some idea of what you can rent or buy. also prices depend on where you go and where you stay, best thing to do is travel cheap and camp or stay in a cheap b&b i say

Alright I live in the s/west of ireland and the summer over here is very very fickle and due to insurance prices alot of places don"t hire boards although there is a few around you"ll just have to google it.
I have a few buddies who only started surfing last year and they headed to Biarritz for a couple of weeks in the summer and scored some nice waves but bare in mind it can be expensive over there.
Although you can camp to save cash and if you book now with ryanair you could score very cheap flights.

What about Mainland Mexico? The area of Punta de Mita has great surf for ya . plus the water is 80degrees (f). i went down there with a company called barrelhunters.com and had a blast.

How about Portugal? good weather, perfect beaches and good value for money......

mexicos ok if you like to get up early as by 11 the turns onshore every morning so not so good if you like a few beers the night before.
Although ixtapa and surrounding areas have some nice breaks

Thailand, Phuket!

Heaps of places where you can get lessons, and if you stick to the beach breaks you won't have any troubles.
Nightlife is awesome here!

Lanzo or Caneries would be an idea, you can get their pretty cheap but if your heading off in school holidays it will be expensive. Have a look at getting a villa in france or portugal maybe even northen spain. Beer cheap, can cook your own food and wide range of breaks plus hot chicks too.

in morocco u can get good waves for biginners in summer for very cheap , something like 30 £ a day for the surf school including lunch , and for accomodation depends on how luxurious is gonna be your lodging for the rpice since 20£ for a basic place till i don't know for the best suit ina palace down here ( summer prices begins since jul 14th ) but still keeps very cheap comparing to europe , and there are many flights now from the uk easyjet thomsonflights thomas cook there all well established here in morocco have a good luck where ever u go to surf

The spot Encuentro near Cabarete in the Dominican Republic is great for beginners, especially in that time of the year. For advanced surfers, it is better to come in wintertime, but for beginners it is perfect. Not too big, but waves every day. And the spot is really beautiful, not crowded and relaxed. Cabarete is a great place, famous for its great nightlife at the bars on the beach, many young people and next to surfing there is a lot to see and do. The country is beautiful and the people friendly. And life is cheap here; you already have a meal for 2 pound. Flights to Puerto plata are probably still cheap in June, beginning July and you have accommodation for around 15 pound pp/night.

I would suggest the Canaries aswell...

If you want great lively nightlife Lanzarote is probably your best bet. But I have to say, I have been to Fuerte several times already and the nightlife there isn´t hectic and full on but more chilled out and fun. So I guess it depends on what you prefer yourself !

uncrowded beaches
perfect waves for all levels
good harm weather
