Heading to St Martin for a sailing vacation with family in early March 2007 and not sure if it is worth bringing my board....
Anyone know if there are any waves to ride and if so, which beaches on St Martin/Maarten or St Barts are the best?
many thanks.

I don't know a whole lot about it, but I do know that they get some surf; pretty good too.
I don't know the consistency or where to go.

Found some info at
http://www.globalsurfers.com/spot.cfm?l ... Wilderness
but I have no idea where the directions lead. I am hoping this is not the Wilderness of Puerto Rico by mistake?
The other place I have heard about on St Martin is Guava Bay.
I see that St Barts has some surfing too, but not to much specific info is avail.
I might end up being that guy with the surf board bag that the locals laugh at...

def surf in st martin & barts, pick up the world stormrider guide volume 2 for info. there very well could be a strong N Atlantic swell pushing through, although it will most likely be choppy due to the trades. Clean waves are hard to come by on this side of the atlantic. I'd say check the forecast right before you go.
