Surfing Waves

okie i was thinking ov goin to wales and didnt know if people know some good spots where i can also camp as im going on a 3 week camp trip and have only just got into surfing so dont know good spots etc so if there is someone from wales here that could post some good info or pm it me that could be great thx

well I'm not giving away any secret spots (as I doubt anyone else will either), but theres plenty of beach breaks around, just check out some OS maps and go visit when theres swell. You'll soon work it out

-figured that may be the case, I wasnt expecting any secret spots to be revealed but if there was some info up for grabs....

Gennith is supposed to be good but its a hard paddle out (tho Ive never surfed it) and theres loads of campsites on the gower. Also places like Whitesands, Hellsmouth etc

I love it too!! He was from Swansea so not that strong at all, I only start to hear it when he speaks to his parents although he denys that his acent strengthens at all.

Depends what time of year your going. for most of the year fresh west and gennith are your best bet of getting any actual surf, and both are within reach of smaller breaks if it gets too big for you.

Gennith campsite is a rip off and isnt open all year. Theres no camping at fresh west although there are some nearby, Youll get busted if you camp in the dunes there, but this time of year there should be plenty of room to park up a van or something.

genniths not so bad, you just have to approach it right, take a while sussing out where the peaks are, where the current goes, where the flat spells are.

On a big messy day if you just pile straight in and start paddling towards the horizon youll get slaughtered, but if you plan it right you can get out on pretty much any surfable day there as long as your fit and have your duckdiving sorted.

If I do get to gennith at any point I'll be sure to keep on driving! Forethought is not one of my strong points, nor is paddling, strength or stamina etc etc

well if you get to gennith and keep on driving youll end up in the sea, its at the end of the peninsula

Its really not that bad, its only when it gets overhead that its tough, which is good cos it keeps the foam boarders on the inside out of the way.
If youre only likely to go there when the swell is so small that no-where else is working, then its a pretty easy paddle out, especially when its clean, for most of the summer you can get out easy without even getting your hair wet.
