Surfing Waves

Hey all,
Me and a buddy are lucky enough to be going to Ecuador December 21st thru 30th. I'm very excited. We're flying into Guayaquil and going to Manta or Monanita or something. Does anyone have any suggestions on where we might stay or what town is the best. I read Duncs posting that mentioned an Israeli Youth Hostel, but couldn't find them on the internet. A nice, inexpensive hotel/apartment close to the surfing/food would be best.

When you get there you'll have to make a choice. Either stay close to the surf, pay more and be able to sleep at night. Or stay further to the south, the centre of town. It's cheaper, but you might not get ant sleep at night.

It is only a 10 minute walk on the beach between the two places.

I would be hard for me to recommend anything as I went in the off-season, while you'll be there for Christmas.

Loads of locals rent out half their house to make a few dollars on the side. The cheapest I heard was 3 dollars a night.
