My boyfriend and I are planning a surfing trip in Portugal and Spain. Neither of us drive, so we are trying to find the easiest, cheapest option to get from San Sebastian, to Coruna, to Porto. We are taking 3 surfboards with us, including a 7"2 board( i think that's the length of it) as i have never surfed before. The train doesn't seem like such a good idea, cos our board bag is huge, it fits all three....Any suggestions??

With out a car and 3 boardas your goingto find it a hell of a mission to travel....

Most buses prob wont let u on with them and trains dont go to the places u want!

Hitching is always an option but with all ur gear that makes for a unlikly pick up.

Is there any way you can pre arange transport from place to place?

well, that's what i'm trying to do, but can't find anything to pre-book!!!all websites are in spanish or portuguese, and my understanding in both languages is pretty limited!!!i'm pretty sure the bus will take us, the boards are in one board bag, so it kind of looks like one board with a lot of padding......that's what we're doing for the plane anyway, just paying for one board instead of three!!!!do you know any travellers websites that give details of bus networks between spain and portugal?????

Try lonley planet...

One option is limit the spots you stop off at and stay longer at others... then u can taxi down the coast.

hi, i´m from spain, and i think u have a problem with the transport and the badge, i think that is better to hire a car and don´t go to the cities (san sebastian, coruña,..) and go to small villages ( zarautz, san vicente de la barquera, etc). basque country is ultra crowded in summer, but the place and the people very cool (near bilbao, sopelana good surfing and cool reggae parties) and if u go to the west less people in the water

Hi Celine

I'm portuguese myself and if you need help with the websites in portuguese let me know the address and what you're looking for and I will have a look.
If you need any tips where to surf in Portugal I can help you out. My boyfriend is a surfer and I'm a begginer, surfed in Portugal last october (leaving in the UK at the moment) and it was great. Some beaches are a bit too hardcore for begginer but you can find some nice melow waves as well.
Jus t le t me know...
