I'm looking for a cheap, uncrowded place to surf in December with mild to medium waves.
Any ideas?

Yes. Morocco! You can live like a king on peanuts. Morocco has many different breaks for all abilities. It's very easily accessible from Europe and travelling there is also cheap.

Regardless of my bad experiances in Morocco i will be going back to spend the winter there because ultimately i love morocco and the people (with the acception of Moroccan authorities).

How about something a little more regional. The $1500 plane fare. is pretty steep.

Waimea Bay, Hawaii!! I'm not sure about the medium sized waves but its uncrowded except for all the spectators on the beach.

Encuentro in Cabarete, Dominican Republic! The waves are great in December. From 2 until 4 meters high. Really nice break and the spot is beautiful. Encuentro is not spoiled by tourists yet and not crowded. Friendly people, relaxed atmosphere and close to Cabarete, which is a great village. In and around Cabarete there are also lots of other things you can do. Also nice restaurants and bars, cheap prices, good nightlife.
