is there surf near London?

hey everyone! i'm a surfer from the philippines and i'm going to study in middlesex university for about a year or two. i've never been around london and i'd like to ask if there are any near surf spots in the area. are any of them good for longboarding? i'd die if i can't surf for a week, what more a year or two. haha! so if you guys can help a fellow surfer out, id gladly appreciate it! thanks!
oh, and if any of you do decide to visit the philippines, do come and surf! you'd love our warm waters, friendly surfers and beautiful breaks!

Southeast uk... london.. Unlucky!
Nearest and very infrequent spots are eather head up to east anglia or southwest to bournmouth way.
Everything else is atleast 4+ hours drive...

Yeah your best bet is Norfolk. It's pretty good for long boarding. Take a look at eastcoastsurf.co.uk
The waters pretty grim (nice & brown) but you do get some good waves!

You probably just chose the worst surfing spot in the entire world mate.The best place to go is Newquay, but thats like outta the way!

:!: what are u on about surf newquay! Its miles from london. Your best but is head for yorkshire! ive heard rumours of waves there!!!!

do a search for the london surf club on google, i can never remember the exact website address.
they do carshare's most weekends to the south west.
the only membership criteria is that you own your own wetsuit and board.

you'll find its not the surfers the locals have a problem with ...its all the lower'upper class that are buying second homes in cornwall and Not using them ... " therefore , leaving it harder for local surfers to buy property in that area ...
hence the familiar gesture and looks of contempt from anyone who doeasnt sound 'local' !! .... for me its easy , coming from zumerset i do al'ready sound like themz do , zo they do leave i alone

There are some spots for surf are avilable but it is not very near to london.So you are very unlucky guy.

Probabaly the closest place is down at Brighton, and a few other spots along the south coast towards Bournemouth, but its not very consistent. Due to the quality of the waves you'd prbabaly be better off longboarding down there so I'd think you'd be able to get a few days surf no probs. The north Northfolk coast would be a reasonable distance too, but as with the south/English Channel coast, its more of a winter surf spot and the North Sea is f-f-f-f-freezing after November! (a big shock coming from the Philippinnes
). If you're up for the trip places like Woolacombe in Devon and Scarborough South Bay in Yorkshire are good longboarder waves, nice places to surf too, but pretty popular and a long way from London.
