surf travel...help me please!

Postby Trevp28 » Mon Jun 26, 2006 7:00 pm

ok heres my problem. i live in england:P this isnt much of a prob in the winter and if you arent tied down by long working hours but since its summer the surf is usually flat and when there is surf i am usually working i never get to go. i grew up in south africa so pretty much grew up in the waves. anyway, this lack of surfing is getting too much. this is where i need some help.

originally i was going to go costa rica but the only time i can go is wet season and i get enough rain here! so i kept looking and i thought, how about bali? this seamed like a good idea and iv started lookin into it more. but if i end up not going to either, i have scotland or south africa(probably choose S.A. because i would have free accomodation).[i will have £3000 for everything from flights to a place to stay to food]

to cut a long story short i will be going on my own to costa rica or bali and i cant drive. could anyone answer some questions for me?
1)is it worth going to costa rica even if it pisses it down for half the day
2)any good surf camps in bali/costa rica and are they a good idea? obviously more convenient as i cant drive and am going alone but i dont buy into them!
3)flights to bali from england(prices and board regulations)
4)is it easy to get a visa for either country?

any help much appreciated:)

Check this out for info on Bali

http://www.baliwaves.com/

Bali will be a lot cheaper to stay than Costa Rica.

Good waves Aug, Sept, but I dont know how it is in Costa Rica this time of year......you'll have to ask Natty 8)

I'm definately gonna check out Ceentral America next year.

Keep checking on Singapore Airlines. They've been having great deals on flight to Bali lately. Also, they are running on free of charge surfboard carriage policy so long as the total weight of your board and luggage are within the allowance limit (20Kg).

You can apply visa for Indo on your arrival at the airport. It cost US$25 and payable by cash or credit card.

I don't know about Costa Rica, but Bali can be dirt cheap if you keep it at basic standard.
