Surfing Waves

I'm taking a trip to Oaxaca in a week and would like to do some surfing. Puerto Escondido is probably out of my skill level. Does anyone know of any breaks in the area that are more suited to beginners/longboarding? Are there surf shops/rentals nearby?

I would check out wannasurf.com ....they've got loads of info on Mejico.
