Bali and Lombok or Sri Lanka??

Postby Mat Fearon » Wed Apr 26, 2006 8:48 am

I am an intermediate surfer who has two weeks in May for a trip. I am considering either Bali and Lombok or Sri Lanka but do not have much info on either. If anyone has any views, (conditions at this time of year etc), that would be much appreciated.

God....I thought I'd posted a question there without remembering coz that is my dilemma exactly!! I wen to Sri Lanka last year about this time and it was really good...the east coast is the place to be during May. I havent been to Bali before though and I was also wandering what people who had been to both recommended! I've heard it's a bit tackier than SL in Kuta etc and with the attacks predicted on westerners at the min Im curious to know what people reckon! Any info would be awesome...cheers

Haven't surfed much of Bali but Lombok and Sumbawa are great. Alot quieter than Bali too. Lombok is nowhere near as tacky as Bali, it's a beautiful really chilled out place with amazing people. If staying in Kuta, Lombok- no better place to stay than Anda. The people there are just fantastic. - I think they have a little swimming pool there now?! Accomodation was only about €2 a night when I was there including breakfast, and we got the new, good rooms. :D

Definitely recommend it.

I don't get it. How can you come up with a conclusion that Bali is tacky when you have not surf much of Bali ?

Personally I prefer the Balinese than the Lomboknese (is there such word?). Balinese are definitely warmer in my opinion.

Sorry, that did sound very stupid!! I spent over 2 weeks there and the parts I saw, I thought were tackier than Lombok. That said, I loved it, I loved every place I visited in Indo.
