I'm planning to go Hong Kong in May and I heard there are surfing spots there. Where are the surfing spots in Hong Kong??? and Where can you buy a surfboard in Hong Kong???

I always go surfing at Tai Long Wan (Big Wave Bay). It's pretty clean and not that crowded (except on Sundays). You also should go early in the morning because the waves getting really small in the afternoon. On this beach you also can rent a surfboard for 50 HKD (6.15 USD) per day or buy a used one. But actually I would recommend to buy a board in Australia or US because the variety in Hong Kong is very poor and the boards are also a bit more expensive.

If you are planning to visit Hong Kong in summer than there is no need to bring a wetsuite. This weekend I was wearing a wetshirt which is totaly enough.

Just wondering, they said there are Tai Long Wan in Sai Kung and another in Hong Kong Island, which one you go to? How do they compare?
Do you rent or have your own board? I always wonder how do people carry a surfboard going around. Coz when you dont have a car, it is very difficult going places with a surfboard, is it?

Yes , there are two "Big Wave Beach" in HongKong. In Chinese words, Tai Long Wan.
One is in Hong Kong Island, which is accessible by bus, car.
Another is in Sai Kung, which is accessible by boat or hiking one hour.
There are surfboard rental and cafe in HongKong Island Big Wave Beach.
There are nothing in Sai Kung Big Wave Beach.
So, the only beach is the Hong Kong Island Big Wave Beach.
