Wrong idea with no experience

Hi,

I will be in Cebu to dive there next week. I have said myself that when I was so close to Siargao, I would be going there to try surfing. So I bought flight tickets from 14th to 28th in Siargao. But unfortunately, I made research about surfing in Siargao after buying the tickets. And now I have found out that December isn't good for surfing so for somebody who has never surfed it will be worse. Is it true? Should I change my plans and not count with surfing there at that time?

It's still within the peak surfing season. But for someone who has never surfed, it really doesn't matter. Most of the time you would want to wish there is no big waves or it's going to be very difficult for you. The instructor would usually take you to some nice and mellow beach break so you don't hurt yourself.

Surfing is associated with weather. You just can't plan ahead, no one knows if it's going to be sunny or raining in a few months time. Sometimes people book their surfing trip months in advance and when they get there. It's completely flat.

I read that Siargao's "Cloud 9" surf break is banning all beginner surf lessons.

Knowing the break it is a good idea to limit who can surf it ( in regard to skill)
Ski slopes are skill rated, but whopolices it
