Hi evryone,
Im new to this forum. Im looking for information on best way to travel from puerto escondido to salina cruz. We are group of 4, (2 surfers and 2 non surfers) We are planning 2 nights in peoto escondido followed by 5 nights in Barra da la cruz and another 5 nights in salina cruz. Is it better to hire a car or rely on taxis and public transport. would love to do a guided surf tour for a few days when there is waves, which i can hopefully book closer to the dates we are there. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Regards Ross

Hello Ross Joaquin from Oaxaca, sounds like a perfect plan. You should know that a surf guide is very important to access many of these points, if you want more information I can help you with it.

I went from Escondido to salina cruz on a bus when I was there in the 80s. Probably better options now but that worked fine then. Maybe for a group tenting a car & driver would be the best.

I know it’s been a while, but I wanted to add something, be prepared with the internet.
I was in Mexico in December and thought I’d rely on a local SIM (big mistake, I got scammed twice). I highly recommend an eSIM..

If you're four people, renting a car is probably the best option – more freedom and comfort.Roads are decent, but watch out for potholes and police checkpoints.Taxis and colectivos are cheaper but less convenient, especially with boards.Surf tours?Better book early, good spots fill up fast.If you want total chill, maybe taxi + surf guide? No worries about driving and parking. But if you wanna explore more, car is the way to go.
