Postby Syemon » Mon Jan 02, 2006 5:01 pm

Anyone know of free spots in fiji? Im off out there but everyone tells me most of the reefies are pretty expensive like $30 per sesh. I wanna pay my respect to the islands etc. but also want to save money for more adventures! Please help. P.s. Im setting of alone in march so anyone who wants to hook up for a sesh would be most welcome. Ill provide the ganj!

Hi Syemon, welcome to Surfing Waves

The problem with Fiji is that the top spots are pretty much all a boat ride away which is where the cost comes in.
There are a couple of reefs on the south side of the main island, Viti Levu, which you can paddle out to but they are not top spots and are inconsistent. If money is a real issue you could always surf the beachbreaks at Sigatoka for nothing.

I was out there last year and stayed at Plantation Island near Namotu and Wilkes for a mates wedding. It was $40 Fiji for the boat trip out to the reef but was well worth it. If you get a group together and are having several trips out you can negotiate a better price.
