Hi all was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with renting high performance surfboards in Bali ? How was the quality of the boards and was the price+experience of renting worth it vs buying a board and then selling it later ?

Not sure of the current ins and outs of quality board rentals, and what your requirements as high performance?
Another way to go is some good companies have boards shaped and madeline Bali and you pick them up when you arrive may be selling on. when you leave.
Check the websites of the companies! I am a BYO surfer

As Geezer pointed out in another thread, plenty of options on FB used forums for those willing to use em.
Still heaps of used high performance boards to be had in the shops too, from Bali made to bigger brands.
Haven't rented in ages, but might be more worth your while to just buy used depending on length of stay.

Yeah, I would buy used then sell when leaving. Besides the FB pages you can buy and sell through local shops in Kuta, Ulus area and Canggu. Very common and easy so not a thing to worry about. Check out FB searching fir used surfboards Bali and several groups should come up.

Hi there!
Renting high-performance surfboards in Bali is quite a common practice among surfers visiting the island, especially for those not wanting to deal with the hassle of transporting their own boards. From my experience and that of many in the surfing community here, the quality of rental boards can vary greatly, but there are plenty of shops offering top-notch boards in excellent condition. Areas like Kuta, Canggu, and Uluwatu are teeming with surf shops that cater to every level and preference, including high-performance boards.
As for the cost, renting can indeed be a more economical and convenient option if you're staying for a short period or if you wish to try out different boards. Prices are generally reasonable, and you avoid the potential complications of buying and selling a board, which can be time-consuming and might not always result in a good return.
I'd recommend visiting reputable surf shops or checking out recommendations on onbali.com for insights on where to find the best rental deals and quality surfboards. This site is a great resource for surfers in Bali, offering local tips and advice that can help make your surfing experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Happy surfing, and I hope you catch some great waves here in Bali!
