Hi guys,

My family and I are planning a trip to northern California in August.

We plan to visit Monterey, Manresa, Santa Cruz, Half moon bay, and Salmon Creek.

Are Manresa and Salmon Creek good places to surf during this time?

I would greatly appreciate any recommendation for good surf spots in Santa Cruz and Half moon bay.

I'm a decent surfer and can surf all kinds of waves, from knee-high to overhead.

Thanks!

not a californian surfer but the northern end of half moon bay warrants a review of well overhead waves if pillar point ( aka Mavericks ) is work best attended by overhead level surfers by a long lens camera: If you get to see it on WOW

Steamer Lane perhaps? Billy might chime in for you!

I would avoid Salmon Creek unless you surf very well. It's a powerful beachbreak resembling San Francisco's Ocean Beach that's exposed to wind, heavy surf and strong currents.

There have also been recent shark attacks there.
