goting to oahu, i heard there is a few beaches where you dont dare to go as a beginner or "howlie" (is that the name for a non local - silly me if it's not)...i'll listen to a reply but i was forwarned to stay away from "toilet bowl" years ago as a young tourist and the locals were nothing but kind to me...I've also been warned to stay away from South Chicago, Harlem, etc when seeking out good music joints...again locals nothing but kind.

Haole is a name for white non native Hawaiians, without aloha = without breath, basically if you exude privilege or racial bias you qualify!
If not aloha is extended. welcome, there is much on offer as a welcomed visitor! Karen and Kening it would really cause problems!

Australian surfers in the late sixties and through the the seventies, said they were tops one. Repercussions were swift and almost brutal.

Sounds like you can walk fair and humble so probably ok!. If you can go unflushed through the toilet bowl !

It is fair historical fact that the kingdom of Hawaii was forcibly annexed by the USA with loss of native lands, there is now a fair amount of disadvantage of the native Hawaiians so Same as south Chicago and Harlem.

At Waikiki the old uncles are not mean and will encourage good aloha attitudes among the young, will offer correctional advice at first instance to careless and disrespectful adults. Take your time show and offer respect all will be well!
