Fly with, ship, or buy a board at destination?

Hi everyone! I'm going to Los Angeles for all of this coming February and March to escape the northeast winter. I have an 8' Torq (thanks for the recommendations everyone, I love it), and it seems like flying with it will end up costing around $260.

Wondering if anyone has experience shipping boards as an alternative, as I'm bringing a guitar and 2 months' worth of clothes, so adding a surfboard to that would be a miserable flying experience.

Or, maybe I could just....buy a board when I get to LA. Not that I'm obsessed or anything :) but those Catch Surf ones sure look great. But then, of course, I would have to fly back with it, or ship it back. Or, stow it at a friend's house and let them use it (I usually go to LA 2x/year).

Happy to hear any and all thoughts!

Go for the catch surf board, new experience and leave it for each time over with your friends! Good all round solution! :D

You can drive an hour south to San Clemente and go to the used surf.com warehouse and pick a used board right off the rack.
They have like hundreds of them, then you can go surf trestles or San-O, while you’re in the area.

Yep. that place is great. You can check their website to see what they have. I am constantly combing through it. Gonna surf Churches tomorrow,. supposed to be pretty big! Will probably hit up that shop after.
