Anybody want to go on an Alaskan Surf trip?

Postby jeffwagnpete » Sat Jan 04, 2020 5:46 pm

Hey all. Im a longboarder, middle aged surfer from Southern California who likes to cruise good and mellow surf. I love traveling the world for solo surf adventures. However, I at times run into the issue when i travel solo where their is a group minimum to surf very remote areas. I ve always wanted to try out arctic surfing. I found this dude in Seward, Alaska called "Alaska Surf Adventures" who takes surfers out on his super nice fishing vessel and is also a surfer who knows everything about tides and areas to surf. I talked with him about a surf adventure and he requires a minimum of 4 to 6 other surfers. His fees are for 6 surfers-$1000, 4 surfers-$1500, ect. the prices go up for less people. I cant afford a solo trip and i am seeing if there is anybody else on this forum who wants to do a surf adventure in Alaska. The trip consists of a 3 day/2 night boat trip to uncrowded breaks. We would fish, shoot guns, beach comb, ect when not surfing. He sais best time to come is september/early october. The water temp during this time is 58 degrees and the air temp is about 60 degrees. Anybody on this forum interested?

Great thoughts, I now live in Austria, so I have a little inkling of cold surfing.
I have a plan to surf in Norway Lofoten islands. Details later! Have fun.
Recommend see if you can do Turnagain Arm would love to see and hear of a surf there!
Important, please share your adventures if you get up and running! :D

Hi. I'm usually going on surfing trips to tropical destinations (been living in the East Coast for years and surfing winters here gets pretty cold), but I've been watching travel pics from Alaska and it looks pretty cool.
I like the idea and the other activities we'll be doing as well. I might be in, if I don't end up going anywhere else in the next few months.
Until when do we need to confirm this?

It's not in the cards for me, but it does sound like a blast- good luck with setting it up!

I'm in SoCal too, but have my own sights down south towards Baja. ;-)

I'm from Melbourne so this is way out of my league but sounds very fun and exciting, hope you can find some people to go with. I'd gladly join but such a trip would require big preparation from me so not this year, hopefully still sometime soon though.
