Hello! I'm interested in surfing, but have never tried it before so I guess i should start somewhere safe & easy. So, does anyone know good surfing spots for beginners in Maluku?

Maluku is the extreme eastern ends of Indonesia , I suggest ends, because it is many island with or without surf, highly dependent Pacfic storm and swell systems
Challenging to get to and be in the right place.
Really a set of boat trip Options only in the right season.
Full on reef breaks and can be dangerous, not beginner territory.
Long relocation to medical help and absolute lack beginner facilities.
Greatdiving among rusty relics of WWII.

Interested in trying Surfing try elsewhere, like Bali or Lombok.
Where are you based that this comes up as a choice for you?

Hi Jaffa, nice posts.

Can you direct me please by any chance?

I am really looking for a good beginners surf beach in Europe for my kids where they do not need a wetsuit.

Also where we can hopefully get a villa or apartment to base ourselves for a few weeks. Walking to the beach, no wetsuits, and good cafes and bars on the beach.

We would be travelling in July and August.

Is there an ideal place you amy be able to direct me? Or someone I can research more?

Thanks in advance :)

IanMckpw, hi and welcome,
Probably it would help me help you if you gave a little more information.
How old are your children, do you have any surfing or ocean experience, can your children swim?

All of Europe’s beaches are shut down due to the virus for an unknown amount of time and the warmer places are hit hard by the virus and travel to them will be difficult.

Where are you planning to travel from , my your moniker sunny Scotland?
I will assist you in planning this when I know those answers.

Cheers stay safe stay well! :D

Just read you other post and that had all the information, I lived at Clareville after DeeWhy and so North Avalon and Little Avalon were my playground until about late 1970s, and doing Sri Lanka stands you in good stead, talk more as the virus subsides.

Hello,
My friend was chased out of the water by a huge tiger shark in Morotai.
Apparently it s beautiful and the people are very nice. Roads are very bad and very dangerous I was also told. When it rains apparently you can get stuck for days. Reef is sharp; cuts get badly infected and don’t heel. Bad internet reception and lacks of basic infrastructure. You don’t want to go to the hospitals there I was also told.
Finding a scooter was almost impossible and very expensive; so I was told to go to Bandah Aceh.
I read on google that it s not rare that people get eaten by big salt water crocodiles in Maluku!
I guess it s not for the faint hearted.
So I opted for North Sumatra where I scored great waves in Aceh!!!
