Jaffa and son undertake their next Atlantic campaign at Moliets Plage on Saturday, since I still have difficulty popping up, knee issues, I have gone back to the ancestor of short boards but modernizes and technology. Thank George Greenough and Steve LIS.
My son has always been a kneeboarder, me a return to a core set of skills,

Could, but won’t! Kneeboards are very finely tuned items, the one I shaped has some design flaws I have to surf hard to overcome,

A normal kneeboard is specifically designed, the Sunova I think will be a good kneeboard, but proof is in the surfing.

Could you, in theory, use the kneeboard for stand up surfing - the sunova looks like nice wide board, could be a good small wave board. Or is the fine tuning such that the different weight distribution would make this a pretty hard thing to do?

True kneeboards have different fin placement and different hips and have the rail to rail Short arc Turns ancestor of short boards so yes

It was an amazing case of “ You should have been here yesterday”, only one day of meaningful Uncle Jaffa surf!
The camp where we were accommodated was filled with 150 Swiss, German and Austrian learner surfers no older than 25 years old, amazingly beautiful and brimming with joyful enthusiasm. I acquired an immediate dinosaur suit just by sheer age, but possessing strange surf craft ( absolutely no awareness of surf history) my son and I were novelties of the first order. ( my son by the way is 48 ).
There was no surf beyond learner white water, for six of the 7 days we were there.
The one day sufficed to try one of the new boards and Hanalei fins, and I performed well in my new kneeboard roll, including a 180 cutback to bottom turn with slideslip drop into frontside driving, , ended with severe calf cramp and muscle tear courtesy of the long meaningful layoff.
Hobbled through the remaining time and our accommodation was an interesting hut called a sheddie, the beds were mounted to the wall and everytime we rolled over our sheddie had a seismic experience.

Some photos were taken when I could hobble to the beach, I must compliment Puresurfcamps on the quality of their organising and enthusiasm for their 150 learners, there was a serious overdose of genuine smiles between the students and the camp team.
We had a great trip to Biarritz and a spectacular fireworks display for a holiday!

Great time was had by all!

The surf campers were all Germanic in origin, bit like calling a New South Welshman a Victorian or worse still A Cane toad during State of Origin time

Let’s see how many international figure that out! After they have a squizz at it!

+ they were at the oldest one third of prime dinosaur‘s age. I felt positively Jurassic!
