Hello! Fly to Australia and in mid-March. Arriving in Perth then we want to fly to the Northeast coast (possibly to Cairns) and continue to explore the east coast,Tasmania, and then New Zealand. In January in Bali, we first tried surfing. Surfed for 8 days. The most exciting for us were flat waves as tall as a man in the Canggu area. We want to combine the sightseeing with surfing. What surf spots (sharks free) at this time of year in Perth, east coast and New Zealand you could recommend? Thank you very much.

A bi wide request, Perth to start, not a great deal of quality surf, but good learning level surf.
Just a safety note, none of of Australia's beaches are fully shark safe.
Some are netted, patrolled beach have look outs for sharks, but realistically more people are killed driving to a beach than are killed by sharks, more people are killed by auto accidents with kangaroos!

Same applies in New Zealand, the driving is the risky part, just remembering that We drive on the otherside of the road from the rest of the world.

Animal risks kangaroos, wombats cattle sheep and more so in New Zealand deer!

I know English is not your main language, but I am intrigued by " flat waves as tall as a man" flat is a description we use for no waves, like a lake!
Any way a great trip planned!

You can surf pretty much anywhere in Australia all year round - well, not anywhere, not north of Noosa. But most of the rest

In terms of places that cater to tourists, probably one of the following will be good - surf lessons, board rentals etc

- Margaret river in west Australia
- Noosa and Gold Coast in Queensland
- Byron Bay in north NSW
- Sydney of course

In New Zealand, go to Raglan for a good surf community and variety of waves
