September surf trip

Hi,
we're a group of beginner-intermediates planning a month long September surf trip somewhere in, or close to Europe. Where can we find the best combination of consistent surf and smaller crows? We've done most of our surfing around Hossegor so we'd like to try some longer mellower waves (pointbreaks) if possible.

Which do you think would offer best surfing between Canary Islands (fuerteventura), France (hossegor), Spain (asturias/basque country), Portugal (peniche/algrave) and Morocco (taghazout),...

So far I'm liking morocco the most for its pointbreaks and warm water, but from what I read the conditions are only starting to be good around mid-September.

Thanks for any help!

Tim a Group of beginner intermediates, arriving at a consistent good surf break introduces several issues I invite you to think about.
First I suggest you think about... are you all close to the same level of skill? Are you able to ride across the face of a wave, Morocco has mostly right hand point breaks ( so good choice for that) but if any of you are still at the straight in white water stage , they will be at risk in point breaks.
As will the Slow wobblers.
Turning up as a ready made crowd will not go down well at an established break unless you are particularly aware of your etiquette!
Beyond all that, are your beginners all self sufficient in their own surf safety. Not all beaches in fact few, have life guards.
Do you want to take your own boards or hire?

Give a few answers and perhaps we can suggest a suitable spot.

You need to know that good breaks now anywhere in the world are no longer uncrowded, especially in their prime season.
Bon Chance
Jaffa

Maybe the West coast of Devon, Cornwall or Ireland? France and Spain and Portugal will be good, but full. The North Atlantic will be pretty warm in September. For Morroco I think it is too early.

A beginner friendly spot with (for a beach break) fairly long rides and a friendly crowd is Saunton Sands in North Devon. Cool place with some very nice golf courses around, too.

Maybe also check out South Finistere or the Vendee. Some nice reefbreaks/pointbreaks - review the Stormriders Guide or wannasurf and take skill recommendations serious. We are testing La Tranche Sur Mer this summer.

First of all thanks for all the replies and sorry for not responding for such a long time. Now to answer your questions. We're all roughly on the same level (being able to ride across a face, learning cutbacks, better turns, ..). We have our own boards and would prefer taking those, but are open to renting if it'll turn out significantly cheaper than the airline fees (probably not as we're going for a month).

Thanks for mentioning some more unconventional spots too, I will definitely look into those as well as Britain.

Also which part of Portugal should I look into for this part of the year?

The Algarve is ideal this time of year. The temperatures are great, it's sunny, the water is the warmest around this time of year, and you'll be sure to find waves for your group with both the south- and westcoast at close proximity.

Thanks, I wish I could take your reply seriously, but you've got 3 posts all advertising your agency or whatever. You even recommended it to a guy looking for tips on a surf trip in California -_-
