Hi
Im booking a two week family holiday in July, and was wondering where best to surf at this time?
Needs to be non-surf friendly, good night life and warm weather. Was thinking San sebastian in Spain may have best waves at this time of year?
Also feurteventura/lanzarote but not sure what the surf will be like there in July..
Any recommendations?
Many thanks

I was in Ericeira, Portugal w/ family last July and we had fun. The waves were ok when I was there, but my timing was off - the big swell literally arrived the day we were leaving. Still, there are a bunch of breaks to explore. And there's lots of fun things to do with family: beaches, hikes, castles, good food, friendly people, nice weather. Plus Lisbon is only an hour away.

You should look at the weather and see if it counts as "warm" enough. Surfing still requires a wetsuit. I was in a 3/2mm and it felt great, maybe even a little warm, but I'm used to cold water and 4/3 wetsuits almost year-round.

FWIW, I also hear good things about the Canary Islands, but I've never been.

Hi,
don't expect perfect waves in July since this is probably not the best months to go surfing. But on the otherside pretty good weather guaranteed.

You might get lucky with the waves in Portugal since it picks up lots of swell but also lots of wind. Norther Spain is awesome during summer, with the picos de europa only 2 hr drive inland. So you could go for a surf in the morning and hike up the mountains in the afternoon.

Weatherwise, the further you go south the warmer the water temperature becomes. Here https://iseeocean.com/learn-to-surf-portugal#water-temperatures-in-portugal is a cool little table of water conditions around the year in Portugal and also I found some good infos about the areas in Portugal.

Hope this helps

Enjoy your trip!
