SURFING IN CANCUN, MEXICO?

I am taking a trip to Mexico in about 3 months, I have never surfed, but i want to learn, iam going to a town 20 minutes out of cancun called playa del carmen and an island not to far from cancun called cozumel. If anyone could tell me some good beginner surf spots around those areas it would be great.
