Cheap three weeks in Asia ?

Hi,

I'm going to study in China in September, and I want to make a stop on my way there (from France) to surf about three weeks, somewhere cheap, especially considering the plane tickets. I'm mostly a beginner (only ever surfed a bit in Bali), and I'm looking for a place with consistent surf, ideally a sandy beach break. Does anyone have a suggestion ?

Bali, is your answer, keep it simple and head there again, still swell season and the further out you go the more you will need to be surf self sufficient
Medewi might be a fair call or Red Beach in Java. Beyond that some of your time will be interisland travel.

Thanks. What about Phuket ? It seems cheap but I'm not sure the surf is too consistent.

One word you said it Inconsistent, ensure you get you surf time do Indo!

You can go to Vietnam to have a nice surfing trip too. Everything in Vietnam is affordable, that's why we don't need to worry about price, from accommodation, foods, entertainment and many other services. There are many beautiful beaches suitable for surfing: Mui Ne (Phan Thiet), Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Da Nang. along with surfing clubs, bars, restaurants....., many choices for you!

Hainan island, China. Super long left

Taitung, Taiwan. I surfed with my wife in 3-5 feet waves all by ourselves for a few hours till a group of 5 people came out. Stayed a 5 SURF.

Vietnam has surf but it too is inconsistent. People are most welcoming while you deal with the flat spells

I travel to Vietnam a lot on business and I would advise not go there for a surf trip, its a nice place but you have to be very lucky to get some decent waves, I have tried all over Vietnam.
I was also in Phuket last month, again you need to get lucky, Kata beach, waves were a huge 1ft and it was surf season.
If you are going for a surf trip try somewhere else.

I also recomend Hainan island, China & Taitung, Taiwan.
Actually I visit Taitung last Feb. Wave was pretty big, over head.
So fun!
