planning a trip to china in june based in a place called Fuzhou. its on the coast near taiwan.
China doesnt seem to be a huge surf destination for some reason i cant work out (Surf Report dont cover it) as it has a big old coastline which is exposed to the big old Pacific Ocean (apart from a few offshore islands such as Japan).
not sure if its worth carting the board over from new zealand - so be interested to hear if anyone has scored any waves over a bowl of crispy peking duck? or even nearby taiwan or hong kong??

Hi sime, I m actually working in Shenzhen Guandong province about 30 km from Hong Kong. As you said it s very hard to find informations about China because nobody knows about surf, but you can check out the wannasurf web site. Anyway it s very hard to find the good spot, especially if you dont speek chinese. I try since 4 monthes and I found some spots, nothing is impossible China is very big, you just have to find it by yourself, so good luck.

There are waves in Taiwan. <edit> I have surfed Tahsi regularly. You can hire boards there but if you are doing a dedicated surf trip bring your own. A small wave board and maybe some bigger fins if the swell gets up. The biggest I have seen is about 6'.

Fabian -

Hey, I'm about to move to Shenzhen from Bangkok. I'm originally from Portland Oregon in the US and learned to surf in Perth Australia. I'm stoked that you found waves around SZX. There's hope it's not a total crap hole like most people say it is. How is the surf? How far from town?

Enjoy-
