Surfing Waves

Hey, all. Some of my surf buddies say this place is never any good, but I've been reading that it can sometimes get out of control, especially in the winter with the right swell. I'm going this Saturday for some beach party some friends of my girlfriend are throwing. Rather than hanging with the volleyball kids ( as most of them are), I'd rather hit the waves. Is Hermosa any good as a beginning beach? Thnx in advance.

Hermosa does get good...but its a secret. We tend to get better/consisten surf there in the winter. Bring your board and try it out. What type of board do you have?
