Hi guys,
We're planning to go to Croatia this summer for the first time. I am a new in surfing so I still need to practice on the small waves because I am still afraid of the real thing, but my friends are know something.

I just wanted to know where the best places are to go there? We're going to rent a house near the sea for a week.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any quieter spots on the Croatian coast which might be suited to a beginner?

Many thanks! :D

Cheers

Most of Croatia is a very lucky surf zone, if you are very lucky, you might get surf, the winds might coincide and give you surf. Google the coastline and see how it has little long stretches of water to generate wave, Viganj and Orebic may show something if your luck is in.
Windsurfing is more the go, but if you do encounter waves they probably will be learner size. But hey The Great Lakes in North Smerica generate waves. Good luck@

With the Adria being so small and not deep either, you probably are really better off windsurfing. If there are waves, they will not only be small, but also short period and gutless and you will have to deal with strong wind as well.

Wannasurf has very few spots: https://www.wannasurf.com/spot/Europe/Croatia/.

This is probably what a very good day looks like:

I would be happy with a day like that :) (except for the crowd)

If your friends "know something" they should know that (wave)surfing in Croatia is basically a no-go. Sure there can be lucky days with wind waves but it's not like you can plan a trip.

Still, Croatia is a really beautiful country so it's a perfect spot for a holiday. However, if you really want to go to surf, you're better off in south/west Portugal (which is the closest thing to Croatia where you're quite sure to get waves)
