Hi there
Just back from Mexico - was awesome - Puerto Escondido - the Mexican Pipeline. Did a study Spanish and surf course - so learnt Spanish and surfed the rest of the day. Would recommend it.

Opps - should have said that ther are lots of other breaks for beginners other than the pipeline - which would be a bit much for a beginner. There is a couple of really good ones for you .. and you can work your way up. and Brian runs the spanish school guy is an excellent teacher and runs surfing lessons as well.

My first time I had good luck at Waikiki (sp) on a longboard. What a kick! Talk about easy, the waves were like rolling humps that never hollowed. Perfect for the first timer.
