Hey Surfers,

Coming back through Indonesia and just looking for dedicated surf camp spots, have to fly into either Jakarta or Denpasar from Russia at the end of Aug start of Sep. Wonder if anyone can recommend a good surf camp in Java or Bali for intermediate, predominantly right handers. I've been to Lombok and canggu and want to try somewhere else, cant afford to fly over to Sumatra otherwise I would go there. I'd like to stay away from bali and night life crowds so I was thinking some where in Java. But the only good spot looks like G land which is mostly just lefts, essentially a remote style camp with intermediate rights, reefs are fine, better then beachies then Canggu and less beginners would be the go.

Cheers for any help!

Try Red Island in Java, fly into Bali ( It is close to G Land the soft spot there is Tiger Tracks)and make your way across.
Or head to Lombok Heaven on the Planet or look at Gerupuk camps. The whole stretch from kuta Lombok has places right across to Awang.

a good stop gap Island is Nusa Lembongan, look for playgrounds and the right of shipwrecks.
A fair bit of choice here for stays . :D

Cheers Jaffa,

I'll look these locations up. Do you have any knowledge of what the best way to send surfboards unaccompanied from Melbourne to Bali is, or would be? I've searched if airlines do it but can't find any info on it and I got one quote from a company for $600 and that doesn't even get you through customs in Indo. Just not a practical way of doing it, it seems like!

Hang on a minute, you are coming from Russia and the boards from Melbourne?/ How will that work... most likely with difficulty.
Some of the Australian board builders make a series in Bali each year or have them in a shop there. If they are custom boards let them know prior to going . My personal shaper I know does this is Mitchell Rae of Outer Island surfboards, great boards strong glass and shaped with indo waves in mind. My boards have lasted well since 2006 and many trips.
Others do it too!

Yeah I was hoping to do that because Im going to Russia but was hoping to spend some time in Indo and surf for a few weeks. So I didn't want to have to take my boards all the way over to Russia with me.

I thought I might not be to difficult to send boards over seen as Indo is such a hot spot for surf, but I'm starting to think I will be tricky. I might have to come back to OZ.

Buy a more cheap board in Bali then recover some cost before moving on , probably cheaper than trying to do unaccompanied. Freight in any direction.
