Surfing Waves

Hello folks,

First time poster. Thinking about a first ever surf trip to California this summer for a safari of about two weeks. I am a 60 year old, intermediate level surfer. Could anyone recommend breaks/areas to hit that are less crowded and reasonably consistent during that time?

I am in NE Florida, and getting desperate as my local almost never works for a shortboard anymore...

I appreciate any suggestions anyone has to offer,
