Longboard Bucket List

The point at San Onofre

Now retired I have time to explore longboard breaks beyond my beloved Marin and Sonoma Counties in Northern California. I ride with a quiet upper body and love long glides. Can you recommend spots on the USA left coast or Hawaii that have a mellow vibe and 3-5 foot waves? Thanks for your help!

Sounds awesome.....would think that being in California, Malibu should top the list.

Of course, Waikiki which has breaks like Queens, Canoes and Pops ( many others too ) is perfect for longboarding. But there's also good rides on the Westside........ Makaha.

I know Malibu's great but is there ever a time when it’s less crowded….midweek, Winter, midnight?

I never considered Pismo and will add it to the list. One of our teachers goes there every summer to ride his quad in the dunes.

Pismo is nice for surf. I drive the 90 miles north once in a while in Summer to surf. Also, while you are driving south and surfing, try the Cayucos Pier in Cayucos, CA. It's a well known regional break. The waves are fast. I like it. Afterward, you can get smoke fish tacos at the little meat smoking shop located at the pier entrance.

I always meant to try out Mondos, but somehow never made it. It looks like it might be a friendly longboarder wave that gets really good when the right swell comes along.

It's also seems like the kind of wave a beginner could just surf for two weeks on a vacation trip, but I don't know for sure because I've never been there

I found a Cayucos beach webcam. The wave reminds me of Caspar Cove.
